Teaching Arrangements

The Master’s programme lasts 9 months, running from October 2026 to July 2027, and awards 60 university credits (CFU).

The programme is full-time and is delivered in a blended format. Online classes are delivered through Microsoft Teams, while some activities take place in person at the premises of the University of Genoa, ANSFISA and the Italian Institute of Welding (IIS).

Attendance is compulsory. The maximum permitted absence is 20% of the teaching activities for participants who are not employed and 40% for employed participants.

Teaching Structure

The Master’s programme comprises a total of 1,500 hours, divided as follows:

  • 427 hours of teaching activities;
  • 873 hours of individual study and assessment;
  • 75 hours of internship or Project Work for employed participants;
  • 125 hours dedicated to the preparation of the final thesis and final examination.

Employed participants may complete a company-based Project Work as an alternative to the internship.

  • Fundamentals of structural engineering for construction materials and technologies
  • Materials and construction technologies for roads and railways
  • Fundamentals of structural mechanics for the classification of existing structures
  • Fundamentals of geotechnical engineering for the classification of existing structures
  • Fundamentals of structural engineering for the classification of existing structures
  • Defect assessment, forms of degradation, inspection and repair techniques

Digital modelling of infrastructure and data management

  • Fundamentals of structural engineering for infrastructure modelling and analysis
  • Fundamentals of structural mechanics for infrastructure modelling and analysis
  • Fundamentals of geotechnical engineering for infrastructure modelling and analysis
  • Fundamentals of geomatics for infrastructure diagnostics and monitoring

The curriculum requires participants to choose one of the following courses:

Innovative Teaching Tools

AulaWeb is the University of Genoa’s online learning platform.

Participants can access teaching materials, online classes and exercises and interact with other participants, tutors and lecturers.

Microsoft Teams is the platform used for online teaching.

Participants will receive a UniGe account to access Microsoft Teams and use the Microsoft 365 services provided by the University. The account will be issued after the call for applications has closed and enrolment has been completed.
